After a decade as Associate Director, I transitioned from a Associate Teaching Professor and Associate Director of Comm Lead, to Artist in Residence at Comm Lead. I continue to teach in the program, as well as explore practicum courses that link Comm Lead students intentionally to clients in the Puget Sound community.

The Communication Leadership master’s program in Seattle offers a cutting-edge curriculum taught by pioneering professional faculty at a top-10 global university. For over four decades Maine Media Workshops has evolved to become recognized as one of the world’s leading centers for filmmaking, photography studies, design, writing, and book arts. My first course, "The Stuff of Memoir," uses found objects to catalyze personal narrative writing. My second course, named after an Adrienne Rich quote, "Write Like Your Life Depends On It," helps writers (from first-time students to seasoned wordsmiths) write their lives onto the page. Over five days on the beautiful MMW+C campus, we review the various forms that blend combinations of life story, advocacy, and truth to power and produce original work.

My work supports next-generation staff and volunteers in tailored leadership development coursework and community-building exercises.

Common Purpose takes action to mobilize voters, while investing in the next generation of leaders and building community. We travel with you to on-the-ground civic volunteer opportunities in key states around the country to create progressive change.

Supporting the interdisciplinary course, "A Pastoral Cookbook" where students explore the pastoral genre as a recipe by analyze its main "ingredients" and "cooking techniques" through written and visual texts, and by visiting local organic farms. My workshops support the digital pastoral cookbook capstone project.

The Population Leadership Program (PLP) brings together professionals from developing countries to expand their leadership skills, and partners with them to create systemic improvements in population issues, family planning, and reproductive health at the local, national, and international levels.
