Over the summer and winter breaks during my time at college, I've worked in the manufacturing and textiles industry as a warehouse lead for both Heritage Distributions LLC and Dodd's Carpet and Hardwood. During that time, I have developed skills using heavy machinery such as forklifts and carpet rolling machines. As a warehouse lead, I've also been tasked with directing freight trucks to their designated load area or drop off area and communicating efficiently with the truck drivers to ensure that the workflow of the warehouse is not disturbed. Since the companies I've worked for deal in both retail and wholesale, communication is key when customers enter the warehouses in search of specific flooring. This has required that I be familiar with all of our products and their specific sections so that the customers can quickly find what they need. Organization skills have also been a key element of my job. Keeping the warehouse organized leads to easier completion of orders and sales. The main skill required of me for this type of employment has been efficiency.
