I provide assurance to the delivery of projects against the portfolio targets to align with the business plan. This improves the ongoing contribution of the portfolio to support strategic decisions and maximise value. Using high-level, strategic thinking, I am able to lead on the prioritisation of projects within the portfolio and actively make recommendations to Senior Management to stop, continue or extend projects / programmes. Key to the role is the ability to provide appropriate challenge and guidance to support effective delivery of projects / programmes. Coupled with this, I head up the resource management function which helps to effectively and efficiently re-allocate scarce resources to areas of highest priority; maximising the return of the project workforce. I work alongside Finance to ensure the Mid Term Financial Plan (MTFP) aligns with the projects in the portfolio and supported the development of the Adult Social Care and Health Savings Programme. By having a firmer handle on the post-project benefits, I can truly assess the full impact of the project and measure and monitor the overall success of the project against measurable, SMART objectives, both for financial and non-financial benefits. I developed the PMO Strategic Plan to review and measure the progression of change; using iterative improvements as the organisations project environment matures. Having a Strategic Plan provides a clear direction of travel for the PMO and continuously justifies its value. The plan is flexible and is monitored and updated on a regular basis to account for any real-time changes within the organisation; including supporting the wants and needs of PMO's key stakeholders. I also work with Project Manager's to coach and develop key project management skills including creating robust, 5 Case Model Business Cases to ensure that all actions, accountability, budgets and timescales are defined. I help implement guidelines, procedures and templates to collect and maintain consistent data. I am constantly working to identify areas of improvement across all projects and programmes.
