As Editor in Chief, I, alongside my Co-EIC, am responsible for a staff of over 100 people. We constantly have to make difficult ethical decisions and work with our team to ensure that the paper will thrive in the future.

I recruited the largest cohort of news writers in Student Life's recent history. I provided the campus with balanced, timely, and trusted coverage of campus protests, increased breaking news alerts, and enterprising stories. I covered a wide range of topics, including systemic inequality at the Medical School, fires impacting students living off campus and student walkouts to protest the Israel-Hamas War. I collaborated with our design, social media, and photo team to ensure these articles had the necessary visuals to make them stand out.

I have worked at Camp Harlam since 2021. During that time, I have worked with three different age groups and supervised a team of around thirty staff members. Each summer presents its unique challenges and has required me to learn how to adapt and change while still providing campers with the best summer of their lives.

Assisted one of the nation's foremost experts on the opioid crisis with doing interviews and gathering archival footage for an upcoming documentary. I also helped conduct informal interviews with potential documentary subjects and aided during the filming process. While interning, I wrote a news essay for the substack on Jelly Roll’s testimony in Congress on fentanyl.

I began helping lead the news section in this role and working with other editors to lay the foundation of what would become a large section. As a senior news editor, I continued to develop as a writer and reporter and also began growing as an editor. Editing is a skill that I started to develop in this role, and by the end of the semester, I could do it at a high level.

I developed my reporting skills in this role and started taking on more stories with increased variety. As a staff writer for the paper, I began to spend more time thinking about what journalism meant and began to understand the power of writing.

As a Madrich I was responsible for assisting a special needs first grader to give him an enriching Hebrew School experience. I also taught Torah chanting trope and helped prepare students for their B'nai Mitzvah. In the Spring of 2020, I was promoted to a leadership position among the teaching assistants, assisting the synagogue cantor with preparation and the transition to online learning for all of our students.

I have been a Synagogue Youth Group Board Member since 2017. This position allows me to work with leadership and guide the programs offered to the synagogue youth. There is also a philanthropic aspect of my position. I am proud to say that our team has raised $2,500 for Generosity Feeds.

My position at the vegetable farm required me to manage hours of work and schedule appropriately. I was responsible for weeding the fields, tending to the crops, constructing and deconstructing posts and growing racks, as well as selling vegetables at local farmers' markets.

Assisted in planning conferences for teens interested in Jewish moral positions on public policy and civic engagement skills. Developed teen strategy for advocacy in state and national legislatures. Selected for international teen Get Out the Vote campaign for the World Zionist Congress.

Helped from the Teen Team, a leadership group organizing youth voices to advocate for social justice issues in Northern Virginia. This team helped win state funding for increased mental health support in our schools, and initiated the process that led to the addition of minority-religious group holidays (Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur, Eid and Diwali) to the Fairfax County Public Schools calendar for 2020-2021.

As a referee, I used time management skills. I was responsible for managing my calendar to accommodate refereeing times and dates. I had an expert understanding of the rules of the game and how they altered depending on the situation. Most importantly I was accountable for making sure the players were safe and having fun.
