Project managed the studio work stream for Sky’s new facility with a budget of £20M which included author of PID, project planning, co-ordinating with other work streams, production of regular reports and managing stakeholder’s expectations.

A very experienced Chief Engineer/Director of Technology with a proven international track record in handling large direct & indirect teams for provision of technical services & equipment in live broadcast environments. This includes planning, budget control of £3m+; latterly in prime broadcast television companies, with previous experience in public &.

• Provision of consultancy to production teams on how they could achieve there goals along with planning of technical resources to enable this.

• Responsible for the planning of special events including a unique annual OB dealing with youth unemployment in the North East.

• Appointed as a board member accountable to both UK & US shareholders for the ongoing profitable operation of the company, with a 14-strong direct team & an £850k budget p.a. My remit spanned:
• development of electronic multi-language production networked system (ScriptNet) to handle total production from research to studio floor, for clients such as BBC Tv, SABC. ZDF, HTv, YTv
• consultancy, technical & commercial assessment & then end-to-end implementation of the group’s transition from mechanical devices to computer based technology.
• hardware deployment, software application development & pertinent connectivity for the new electronic newsroom system
• a watertight contingency plan to guarantee no downtime in output.

During this time Visnews transitioned from film to video News syndication and hosted the first pan-European satellite broadcasts for domestic consumption on behalf of the EBU. As Operations Manager I was deeply involved.
