About Awais Farooq Roy
I work for (and with) passion. As long as I'm passionate about the 'why' of my work, I don't need much else to deliver. I love being able to contribute with all my heart and letting my work speak for itself.Over the course of my career, I have worked in a range of roles including marketing, communications, content creation, curriculum design, facilitation, technology management, and knowledge management. I started my work in the development sector and have strived to find meaning in my work ever since. Before returning to American Red Cross - International Disaster Response team in my current role of Training Coordinator, I’ve worked with The Chronicle of Higher Education and American Red Cross - International Response Team through the Atlas Corps Fellowship. I started my career at Amal Academy (a Stanford University initiative focused on soft skills development for the un/underemployed youth) and over a period of 5 years and 6 roles, transitioned from the hands-on scope a Design Associate to the leadership focused role of Senior Marketing Manager. As a marketer, I don’t believe in the conventional approach to selling which was reaffirmed when I joined Seth Godin’s Marketing Seminar and altMBA. I have a strong belief in the power of empathy and that it is the first step towards building a strong and inclusive communication. This approach helped me bring in more than 75,000 applications (for Amal Academy) and continues to guide me in my current role. From this present spot in my career, where my work gives me a high that is no less than a blessing, I am just trying to do and be better every day :)
