Charles E. Smith Life Communities (CESLC), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization serving more than 1,100 older adults, is located on a 38-acre campus in Rockville, Maryland. Established as the Hebrew Home of Greater Washington in 1910, CESLC is committed to providing residents meaningful connections, intellectual pursuits, artistic expression, active social lives and cultural exploration. CESLC offers independent living at Revitz House and Ring House; assisted living at Landow House; memory care at Cohen-Rosen House, with services including post-acute care and long-term skilled nursing care at Hebrew Home of Greater Washington; medical care at Hirsh Health Center; and temporary shelter and advocacy for victims of elder abuse at the ElderSAFE™ Center.

Led the development and alumni relations team at Wesley Theological Seminary, a United Methodist Seminary in Washington D.C. with over 4000 alumni worldwide. In my first year, we created a three-year comprehensive development plan focusing on the following priorities: expand major gifts program and capacity, create and implement program-based major gifts initiatives, increase support to endowment, attract new major donors, prioritize mental wellness in a supportive and fulfilling work culture, and use data to its full potential to inform fundraising efforts. In 2023, Wesley had its largest fundraising year to date with support of almost $10 million from individuals and foundations.

In this role, I reported directly to the President/CEO and led the development team for the Greater Washington Region including: Montgomery County, Northern Virginia, Prince George's County, and the District of Columbia. My primary responsibility was to lead the implementation of our asset development strategies as part of our new strategic plan and 50th Anniversary Campaign. As the campaign lead, I was responsible for campaign strategy, including establishing solicitation priorities, developing and executing targeted cultivation plans and solicitation strategies for a range of priorities, while serving as the staff lead for the Campaign Committee and Development and Marketing Committee of the Board of Trustees. During my tenure, assets under management increased from $330M to $560M.

As the AVP for Development, I led The Community Foundation’s unrestricted fundraising efforts, including cultivating and soliciting major donors, managing the regional gala, launching and managing an annual appeal, and writing corporate and foundation proposals. In collaboration with the mayor's Interagency Council on Homelessness, we launched the Partnership to End Homelessness to make homelessness in Washington, DC rare, brief, and non-recurring.
