We targeted 150 trainees from different social backgrounds. We were able to represent a geographical balance including vulnerable groups of migrants and Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs).

The Student Leaders program is a rigorous leadership program for up to 60 undergraduate and graduate students from the Middle East and North Africa. Students are divided among U.S. academic institutions where they develop leadership skills and expand their understanding of civil society and participatory governance and how both may be applied in their home communities. Participants have the opportunity to meet their American peers, engage in local community service activities, and observe and take part in the governmental process on the local, state, and federal levels. The program includes academic coursework, as well as study tours to various regions of the United States.

• Provide Student Leaders with guidance and support related to their CEP design, project and budget formulation, and implementation next steps.• Work under the guidance of the CEP primary point of contact at the University of Delaware.• Provide Student Leaders with feedback, and support the CEP primary point of contact as well as the CEP team at the University of Delaware as requested.• Engage with individual Student Leaders by responding to and answering their CEP-related questions. • Review individual Student Leader CEP plans, providing tailored guidance to strengthen plans.• Encourage each Student Leader in the development of their CEP, to ensure that each SL uses individual creativity to develop their project.• Serve Student Leaders as a civil society network resource and provide network connections as requested.
