  • Cira, The Canadian Internet Registration Authority
    Junior Test Developer
Cira, The Canadian Internet Registration Authority Nov 2019 - Nov 2020
    Ottawa, Canada Area
I got to help build Canada's internet! More specifically, I had the chance to work within a cross functional team of application developers and test developers. A typical day for me looked like:- I looked over our regression results, which ran nightly. If I found any failures, I investigated them by digging into the application under test, the build environment, the database, or our logs. The result of the investigation was raised as a defect through JIRA.- Attended daily stand up, which I periodically got to lead. That was the time to discuss what was going on and hold each other accountable to our commitments for that sprint.- Worked on automating tests for new features or edge cases found via defects. As part of that, I got the chance to design thorough test plan, do exploratory testing, and ask lots of questions.- If we were within a release window, I handled performance testing, soak testing, database upgrade, release regression testing, and tested the deployment of our applications.- Lastly, whenever my commitments for a sprint were light, I also got to work on our technical debt, which often involved updating documentation, making our automation framework more robust, and finding ways to improve our processes.
  • Lightspeed Hq
    Junior Test Developer
    Lightspeed Hq Sep 2018 - Nov 2019

I worked remotely with a small team of Test Developers based out of Montreal, Quebec, where I had the amazing opportunity to build an automation suite from the ground up. The tools that were used for the framework were primarily Python, Pytest, and Selenium WebDriver. I worked within a Continuous Delivery and Testing model, so I also had the chance to collaborate closely with QAs, Developers, Product Managers, and many other Stakeholders in order to integrate the automation framework starting from the design phase, and all the way to the release and maintenance of new features.A typical day looked like:- Met for 'Stand Up' with peers, where we discussed our previous day's work, what lied ahead, and if we had any impediments in our work- Worked on automating tests for new features and bug fixes, or addressed technical debt in our framework- Performed manual testing when testing new features, defects, or when extra hands were needed for regression testing
