I am the community development officer at GLMCC & Macmillan Cancer Support, to provide a community-focused service delivering awareness-raising and building stronger relationships with professionals and stakeholders to improve cancer services for patients and their families in Birmingham.

Domestic Abuse Drop-In Worker providing emotional support for women accessing the service at Green Lane Masjid. Developing and delivering training sessions to raise awareness and build the capacity of staff and volunteers at GLM. Working with external organisations and agencies to create more effective referral pathways and promoting the GLM Domestic Abuse Service to the wider community.

Responsible for recruiting, training and managing volunteers to work on the befriending project at TimeBank.This project is aimed at reducing isolation during covid19 for asylum seekers and refugees living in Birmingham. Volunteers are matched up with participants to offer a friendly telephone call once a week to ensure participants have someone to talk to during these difficult times. Participants are referred from external organsiations that they are already being supported by.

Creating relevant content for Facebook and Instagram pages of clients. Engaging with the client's audience and building better relationships and brand loyalty. Increasing traffic to clients website through call-to-action posts on social media channels and running incentives to increase followers for clients such as giveaways and competitions.

Talking Together Project Coordinator recruiting, training and managing volunteers to deliver basic English Language classes in communities in Birmingham. Classes take place in community venues and primary schools across the city.

Specialist Project Worker at Birmingham & Solihull Women's Aid, delivering specialist community development work to promote the awareness and understanding of ;- Domestic Violence- Violence against women and girls- Female Genital Mutilation - Sexual Health- Forced Marriage - Honour Based Violence.I am responsible for developing and delivering multi-agency professional training as well as community engagement work with FGM affected communities in Birmingham. Additionally I provide floating support for women and children fleeing domestic violence and provide emotional and practical support through casework. I frequently work with statutory agencies to liaise on behalf of women to provide effective support. I also set up and run local women's groups. Organising regular meetings to discuss community activities and raise awareness workshops on issues relating to women's health and wellbeing. I focus on empowering women to develop their personal skills and take contol of their lives by gaining leadership skills and making their own choices in life.I supervise and maintain a team of volunteers within the FGM project at Birmingham & Solihull Women's Aid. I developed volunteer agreement documents and extensive training which volunteers sign up to and attend in order to become local FGM Community Champions. To support volunteers in further developing their skillsets there are opportunities for volunteers to become sessional workers and support in delivering community workshops as well as professional training.

To promote and deliver the impact of forced marriage and female genital mutilation on women through community engagement work, under the umbrella of violence against women and girls. Currently the lead person on delivering training to professionals and community groups on the awereness of forced marriage and female genital mutilation. Developing and delivering professional training for health care, legal and education staff members. Confident in public speaking at conferences when required on the gender based violence topics. Setting up support groups for members of communities that practice FGM and forced marriage to provide education understand of the practice and emotional support. Additionally I am responsible for organising and hosting regular events and workshops as part of the preventative VAW issues. Working with a team of volunteers within the FGM project and providing emotional support and follow up support for survivors of FGM at maternity wards and in the community. Experience in making links and maintaining relationships with external agencies and key stakeholders to provide effective multi agency work in the field of FGM and forced marriage. Attending statutory meetings representing BSWA in the region and nationally.

As a support worker for adults living with mental health I was responsible for supporting clients with developing their personal and social skills. Following individual care plans that cater to each client's unique and often complex needs. I was trained in managing conflict and challenging behaviours, I have skills in de-escalating situations and providing emotional support for patients experiencing flashbacks and trauma. As part of a team of clinicians, psychologist and mental health nurses I was responsible for maintaining client's notes and observations. I would also regularly escort clients to social outings as well as outdoor group activities. I always ensured that clients were treated with dignity and respect and liaised with relevent agencies to meet their needs.
