Traveled to Jaipur to forge a business relationship and product development strategy. Using a novel approach, the lac jewelry was refashioned for a more elevated and modern appeal. Product development was based on market research and trend analysis within the middle range fashion jewelry market. Created a brand, logo and line drawing for further development by professional graphic design firm for print and web content. Product pricing was formulated to yield a high net profit margin. Public relations done through outreach and sales event planning. Content written for online shop including detailed business and product description, tagline, etc. Set up shipping and payment method/accounts. Photography and photo editing of product for use in a variety of media. Created Facebook page for social media marketing. Cross platform integration done with Facebook, Pinterest, Polyvore, and Etsy. Successfully executed business plan to create a product with variety that attracted a wide range demographic.

Member of the Virus Core Facility at Stanford University producing recombinant viruses for research use providing service to Stanford neuroscience labs as well external customers. Services provided include virus production/purification and plasmid construction. Transfection of recombinant virus vectors derived from AAV, lentivirus, and retrovirus done by calcium phosphate or polyethylene glycol methods. Produced virus was used to infect appropriate cell lines to yield infectious titers for customers prior to use. Fluorescent microscopy used to monitor transfection and infection efficiency. Quantitative PCR utilized to determine genomic titers of produced virus for customers prior to use. Data sheets distributed to each customer with all relevant data and fluorescent microscopy photos of transfection and infection efficiency.

Menlo Park, Ca

Biotech subsidiary of PPD focused on drug target discovery. Member of the Molecular Biology Core Team supporting different therapeutic research groups. Constructed a focused, fragmented cDNA library for use in target validation studies. Constructed several vector systems for use in genetic screens. Performed expression profile analyses using Affymetrix GeneChip technology on RNA extracted from patient samples (lymphocytes). Worked with ABI 5700 real-time PCR instrument for gene expression profiling.

Independent project focused on determining the structural and functional impact of single point mutations within beta-2-microglobulin protein. Used recombinant DNA techniques to subclone cDNAs, mutagenized by PCR, into mammalian expression vectors. HCT (human colon carcinoma) cells were transfected with the constructs, stable clones were selected and cell lysates were prepared from these clonal lines. Radioimmunoassays were used to examine effects of the mutant proteins within the cells. Associated proteins from the cell lysates were also analyzed by immunoprecipitation, SDS-Page and Western blot analyses.
