About Ayuska Motha

My interest in environmental issues (such as climate change, urban air quality, toxics in our environment) stems from my love of nature. For decades, I have also been interested in their disproportionate impacts, exposure and risks on women, minorities, lower-income and other underrepresented, under-resourced groups. I enjoy working in teams and groups to bring about awareness on these issues and to amplify solutions. I am interested in identifying and harnessing the synergies between and within climate and gender justice, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), biodiversity, human health and wellbeing. I firmly believe our solutions should be long-term, holistic, inclusive, sensible, people-led, ecological, and low risk.Prior to climate change work, experienced as an Environmental Scientist with a demonstrated history of working in the environmental consulting industry.

Interested in the health effects of climate change and pollution, raising climate ambition, climate and environmental justice issues, retaining biodiversity with real, holistic solutions as well as debunking false solutions. -Working as part of a team of 18+ FAWCO UN Representatives following women and girls' issues at many of the UN bodies worldwide. My role is focusing on the work of the UNFCCC (United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change), participation as an observer organization, being the sole FAWCO liaison to the Women and Gender Constituency as well as coordinating and advocating with them and the other constituencies. -Involves contributing to statements, organizing side-events, screening candidates, raising awareness on the intersection of gender and climate change.-Active annually as a jury member since 2018 carefully selecting Gender Just Climate Solutions award winners.-Also working to highlight and uplift the work of feminist activists in the global south-Member of the FAWCO Global Issues Environment team, contributing regularly to bulletins and events. -Helped to organize a FAWCO-wide, 3 day Environment Festival on the Hopin platform for a global audience. SDG Awareness Team- working as part of a small team to prepare and launch a UN Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) awareness photo campaign from May - September 2020 for our local Club. 2021 launched an SDG Puzzle photo campaign.
