My name is Benjamin Monteagudo, and I am currently a Field Engineer at Sibel Health working to bring wearable vitals monitors to research institutes and hospitals all around the world.I attended the Johns Hopkins University where I graduated with honors with a B.S. in Biomedical Engineering, with minors in Mathematics and Entrepreneurship & Management. I then stayed to obtain an M.S.E. in Bioengineering Innovation and Design, where I co-founded LymphaSense, a startup aiming to provide a non-invasive method of detecting lymphedema in women recovering from breast cancer. Our startup ended up taking 4th place in the Rice Business Plan Competition 2022.I am very passionate about medical devices, as I believe they are an innovative and important leap forward in technology that will benefit humanity by greatly improving peoples' health, especially those that may be an overlooked patient population due to complicated diseases or disorders that remained untreatable until now. I am open and willing to learn new skills in order to accomplish tasks and achieve my goals. During my undergraduate studies, I was a member of the Pathak Lab on the Johns Hopkins Medical Institute, where I co-authored a paper published in Nature Methods which outlines a pipeline for imaging the vascular system of murine tissue in order to create detailed maps of their features. I also worked at Infinite Biomedical Technologies as a Production Engineering Intern, where I worked to design, manufacture, and test control systems and batteries for upper-limb prosthetics.
