Bill O’Donnell is the CEO and Founder of Blue Ash Farm Spirits, LLC, named after the Blue Ash trees that were located on his grandparents' farm in Cynthia, Kentucky. Almost 20 years ago, he discovered an area in the southwest corner of Wisconsin called the Driftless Area, known for its rugged landscape and untouched beauty. After 30 years of trading commodities at the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, it was his decision to put down fresh roots here honoring his Kentucky heritage that brought his life full circle.Among several honorary Blue Ash trees sits over 50 acres of natural land in the scenic Pecatonica River Valley near Argyle, WI that is home to family, friends, and passersby. Blue Ash Farm is a place to unplug and celebrate the bounty of not only the nature around us all, but the quality of time spent in these surroundings, as well. Having restored much of this property himself to allow the wetlands and tallgrass prairies to reclaim the land, it is now teeming with game and native plants. This is exactly what Bill imagined when he traded in his hectic, suit-and-tie lifestyle for a new adventure altogether.There is always a project of some kind developing or cooking at Blue Ash Farm - Bill isn’t the type of person to sit still for very long, even with the beautiful scenery of Blue Ash Farm. Preserving a small cherry orchard, several beehives, and maple trees across the property has yielded wildflower honey and fresh syrup in the spring. Both of which are used in the production of the farm’s one-of-a-kind Craft Spirits, bringing the Blue Ash Farm lifestyle to everyone’s home. Three types of Bourbon are offered including a Maple and a Honey variety infused with products from our farm. These rest alongside the most refreshing floral Gin made with a variety of botanicals, a Cherry Vodka bursting with tart Wisconsin cherries and a smooth, original Vodka made with American grains. An on-site tasting room is scheduled to open late fall of 2020 where visitors can catch the spirit of Blue Ash Farm by indulging in fine spirits while finding their place to celebrate the great outdoors, family, and friends, or perhaps just a peaceful moment.After the passing of his grandfather and the selling of the original farm, all that was a hand-carved wooden sign that was attached to their pick-up truck. That same Blue Ash Farm sign sits proudly on Bill’s vintage truck and serves as an inspiration to remember the spirit of simpler times with every sunrise, sunset, and glass poured.
