About Kate Armstrong
It is human nature to touch and be touched, to love and be loved. I lost my sister to breast cancer. Every day before her passing, I massaged her, and for those 20 minutes the cancer no longer existed….for those 20 minutes she was able to forget her fear….for those 20 minutes I no longer felt powerless. I made a decision after she died to find a way to work with cancer patients AND their families in her memory. I know the importance of touch and loving kindness in times like these.As many of you know, I didn’t come from a background of touch. I came from a highly stressful career in Stock Broking and Investor Relations. It was my life’s work to help junior companies grow and expand. 6 years ago I hit a wall - crashed and burned as they say - and ended up a train-wreck. It wasn't pretty. During this time I discovered Traditional Thai Massage and it catapulted me in a new direction. As Founder of Bahn Thai Spa, I now understand the importance of work/life balance and it is my intention to bring that balance to my guests through this wonderful ancient practice. My staff and I are here to help YOU avoid becoming that train-wreck. I have been fortunate enough to learn this art both here in Toronto and in Chiang Mai,Thailand at a number of schools including ONG's and ITM. I am a graduate of the Certified Advanced Practitioners Training (CAPT) from International Massage Training (ITM) which allows me not only to practice but to teach as well. Teaching recreationally is thrilling, knowing that I have empowered someone else with the gift of touch.The most rewarding aspect of my job today is in my capacity of mentor. My students amaze and surprise me and I'm thrilled that at their age, they already understand the concept of work/life balance.
