When you think about it, everything comes down to food. Food is the substance of humanity, nutrition is the science, and the food system spans history and the borders of conventional trades. My passion for nutrition and our connection to the food we're fueled on began in the garden, where I helped cultivate and grow major components of the majority of my meals. I am learning that my birthplace offered rare experiences, setting me apart from many of my colleagues and peers, but ultimately ahead, because it is my most treasured attribute and a fundamental part of who I am and the path I am invested in. I believe that quality plants and animals facilitate holistic and symbiotic health; good food is the medicine our society and our planet increasingly need, and the science confirms it is relevant. It has been profound to live in a community where public nutritional health, resources, and education are a federal policy and regional priority. I intend to utilize this privileged experience, my investment in educational expertise, and my fiery passion that grew out of my own unique and rural food history, to help heal our relationship with our food.
