I have a bachelor's degree in biology with a focus on molecular and microbiology. I also have a minor in psychology. I have over four years of professional laboratory experience. My first two years I spent in a diagnostic laboratory and the remainder of my experience has been in biotech, particularly research and development. I am adept with aseptic technique, as well as laboratory sterility and lab etiquette. I have utilized a wide range of laboratory equipment such as pipettes, centrifuges, biosafety cabinets, and incubators, all various sizes and manufacturers. I am extremely comfortable and proficient in molecular and microbiology laboratory techniques, such as DNA extractions and purifications, gel electrophoresis, PCR, Gibson assemblies, electroporation/transformations, agar plating, and liquid inoculations. Throughout my time in a diagnostic laboratory, I analyzed and interpreted samples in the departments of coagulation, endocrinology, urinalysis, chemistry, and hematology. Along with sample processing, I executed inventory and ordering for each laboratory department. During my time in this position, I was awarded the title of quality control officer. This position accompanied my previous duties and included performing analyzer maintenance, calibrations, and control runs. As the QC officer I also enforced accurate laboratory techniques and ensured staff followed standard operating procedures. During my experience in biotech, I gained more hands-on experience with molecular laboratory techniques. Daily I executed DNA extractions, transformations, gel electrophoresis, PCR, Gibson assemblies, and recombineering techniques. I was involved in various projects and experiments such as strain design, assay development, bacteria host improvements, and high-throughput screening involving high diversity libraries. Along with my wet lab experience, I analyzed data such as sequencing results and utilized LIMS to record experimental data. I frequently assisted in experiment organization and planning for our team, bench space organization (following 5S guidelines), and composed Standard Operating Procedure documents. I would love to obtain a position where I can utilize these many skills, as I continue to grow my experience and knowledge in the field.
