I am finishing up my senior year at the University of Washington, Seattle with a B.A. in Internaitonal Studies and minors in Environmental Studies and History. Through the my interdisciplinary education at UW I have grown my passion for sustainable food systems and in particular ensuring access to fresh foods in all communities globally. The future of our food systems needs to have a more equitable and regenerative focus to protect our ecosystems. In Seattle, I have volunteered at the U-District Food Bank as well as their community garden and with the UW Farm. Each opportunity to work within my local food system has taught me more about the daily challenges farmers and consumers face especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. Through interning with EARTHDAY.ORG, I was able to see the global reach of a coordinated non-profit and the power of educating communities about climate change and possible solutions by working on the food and environment, education, and grant writing teams.
