Once I learned a career as a professional athlete wasn’t in the cards for me, I was focused on still being as close to the action as possible, so the goal of being a sportswriter entered my head. That was my focus as an undergrad as I served as the sports editor and editor for my college newspaper The Criterion. I also did some play-by-play and color analyst radio work for The Team 1340 AM. I’ve written sports articles for several different publications including The Greeley Tribune, Glenwood Springs Post-Independent, Grand Valley Magazine and online website Fight Saga. In 2017, I joined Weld County Government as a Communications Specialist. There are not too many writing jobs more different than going from capturing unique stories in sports to covering the unique stories in government, but I’ve enjoyed my time, am learning new things and am enjoying the growth opportunities the position has provided. My skills include writing, editing and interviewing. I’m developing slowly developing graphic design skills as well, which is exciting!- Shoestrings - sometimes tied, sometimes not!
