I chaired the Colorado Advisory Committee on Student Loans. We decided to sell this State enterprise to a company in the private sector. This meant that Colorado would no longer have to spend $2 million annually subsidizing this enterprise. We agreed to sell on behalf of the State for $10 million upfront payment plus $2 million annually for 10 years. I was told that our Board was the first in Colorado history to recommend that we be dissolved, since we no longer served a purpose.
