A people person at heart, I founded my site, Teens Got Cents in 2013 at the age of 16 as a school project. After realizing there was a need for personal finance education for teens *by* a teen, I was inspired to start a website focused on teens and money. Today, Teens Got Cents coaches fellow teenagers on financial and personal management in a fun and engaging way. The bulk of my writing and speaking centers around budgeting, preparing for college, and developing life skills. In addition to writing and producing content designed with teen readers in mind, I grow my brand with a strong social media strategy and an attention to what teens want and need to know about when it comes to becoming more independent. In 2014, I was honored to be given the Plutus Award (a national honor for personal finance bloggers) for Best Personal Finance Blog for Teens, College Students and Young Adults. I was nominated again in 2015 for Best Personal Finance Blog for Millennials. In 2014, I was also awarded the James Madison Institute Preston A. Wells, Jr. Student Award for entrepreneurship. My blog has allowed me to reach in-person audiences via public speaking engagements on local station WJXT Channel 4 Morning News and Florida's Prosperity Partnership, to talk and present about personal finance and every day challenges today's young adult faces. As an educator, I have designed and instructed several courses for teens and parents including an introductory personal finance class for a teen leadership group with the Northeast Florida Healthy Start Coalition and a finance camp for teens with the non-profit organization Solitas House of Tampa. As a writer, business owner, public speaker, and educator, I am passionate about giving practical, purposeful advice that inspires teens and young adults to think differently about saving, spending, and budgeting so that they go into college and their adult years prepared for the financial and personal challenges ahead.
