Summary of QualificationsMy expertise is in public health nursing. I also have an expert level of patient care in the fields of psychiatric and in-patient bedside nursing. I am proficient in delivering safe and effective care that is evidenced-based. I also have a wealth of knowledge in promoting health and preventing disease. The care that I have delivered in the public health field has enabled individuals in the community to be able to make informed decisions about their healthcare and create regimens that they are able to follow. This was accomplished by providing the information for the whole patient. The care that I provided in mental health nursing allowed the residents to gain competency. This was accomplished by providing the residents with a clean and safe environment. My motivation for nursing is being an advocate for clients to ensure that they receive the most effective care. My passion for staying current on healthcare practices and providing evidenced-based care is what encourages me to seek up to date information in nursing and healthcare.The theory that guides me in my nursing practice is Jean Watson’s Caring Theory. According to (Riegel, Crossetti & Siqueira, 2018 ), Jean Watson developed in her human care theory, ten charitable factors considered care needs specific to human experiences and that should be addressed by nurses. There are two main factors that actually guide me. These two factors are sensitivity to oneself and others and development of aid, trust, and care relations. I develop trust and aid relationships with medical foster care parents to by providing them with up to date medical and psychosocial information on prospective placement children. While providing this information, I have to remain sensitive to the fact that the children’s abuse or neglect cases. It is my responsibility to make sure that the children and families have smooth transitions into and out of our medical foster care homes.I have three goals for the near future that would help keep me knowledgeable and up to date with topics in healthcare. The first is that I would like to take on a management position within the next two years. This would help to continue to build on the leadership skills that I already possess. My second goal would be to obtain a specialization of public health within the next two years. I would like to compliment my current experience with new ways to communicate and lead the community to health. My third goal is to obtain an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse degree within five years.
