I had my first encounter with Public Relations when I entered college. In the beginning, I was very active within the community, and the thought of being in touch with people around me made me feel alive. As I made progress in my academic path, I realized that there are many more things that I want to do that are not limited to the field of Public Relations. I still enjoy the work I create with people and have every skill needed to become a good practitioner; but at the same time, I also find myself a lot more attached to writing, especially ones that tell stories, be it fictional or not.As I continued to polish my skills as a PR practitioner, I started opening my possibilities towards other career paths. I tried most areas in the media that required writing skills, and I grew to love how I could make use of these skills to either inform or inspire people. During my brief session working at a news agency, I have learned to adapt and manage resources, all while interviewing and arranging information to form a flow of events for readers to follow. On top of reporting hard news, I also learned about the creative writing process, allowing me to create a realistic plot with detailed explanations to captivate fiction and non-fiction readers alike.After moving forward to graduate school, I found myself fully immersed in the idea of communicating as a brand and understanding how to form a strong corporate impression that resonates with the audience's demand and desire. With my knowledge of Public Relations and experience in Journalism, I decided to spend my time in graduate school moving towards Advertising and Brand Management as a possible extension to my available skillset, hoping that it will come in handy once I have an opportunity to use it. My storytelling experience also proved to be useful, as I continued to structure a brand identity based on what resonates with the audience, and I've found some positive responses to the handful of mock projects I have done as part of my higher education experience.With my Master's degree in Mass Communications in hand, I am now more ready than ever for the workforce. While I consider myself a jack of all trades, I have mastered what I dabbled into to a certain extent, and the new things I have learned are all based on the foundation of the knowledge and experience I obtained. My goal is to find a career that can help me push what I already have to the maximum potential, all while giving me grounds to continue expanding my knowledge even further.
