People for Housing is a non-profit housing advocacy group working to promote awareness of California's housing shortage, the conditions that have created the shortage, and how to advocate for more housing production in OC. Say YES to housing! @HousingOC

I founded the California Policy & Planning Center (http://policyplanningcenter.com) to provide the public outreach, project management and planning support that businesses, government agencies and nonprofit organizations need. Along with two partners, I develop and manage public outreach and education campaigns and corporate social responsibility campaigns. I also manage communication and coalition building between businesses, elected officials and community organizations, and manage all the services that accompany and support these activities. Recent accomplishments and projects include:° Developed a strategic plan and business outreach campaign for the Orange County Community Foundation, which manages Accelerate Change Together (ACT) Anaheim. ACT is an initiative launched by Disneyland Resort, Angels Baseball and the Anaheim Ducks to create and expand opportunities for at-risk youth in Anaheim. Now in its third year of operation, ACT has funded $5 million to 14 nonprofits operating in Anaheim.° Irvine Campus Housing Authority: Manage stakeholder communications for new residential development on the UC Irvine campus; manage website integration and redesign project for this agency, which manages 1,000+ residential units and 250-acre grounds.° Charter School Management Company: Designed and managed a public awareness campaign to educate the community about a public-private partnership to improve city parks. Built relationships with city and county elected officials, residents and businesses on behalf of the charter school management company.° Private equity firm investing in real estate: Developed and managed a campaign to create public awareness of a real estate investment initiative to build assisted living facilities.

As a media relations professional, I secured media placement in print and online publications through my relationships with the press. I also produced and disseminated social media content for my clients. Relevant skills: Identifying appropriate media sources and developing media lists; professional-level writing and editing; securing media coverage; archiving coverage and packaging for use on social media.

Covered local business and real estate and wrote personal finance features. Also launched a blog titled L.A. Mama and wrote about health and education issues related to parenting. (I left the paper in 2004 and returned in 2006)
