I wanted to experience a different environment, have bar training and at the same time develop and learn some supervisor skills, so I start my employment in El Guaca while at the same time kept my waitress shifts in Chimichanga. The exception was that at El Guaca I only worked a couple of days a week during the holidays and an occasional day over term time to gain the skills and experience necessary to be able to pursue the career I wanted in hospitality. The restaurant had also a cocktail bar that could be used if customers only wanted drinks. I had training not only behind the bar, learning all the set-up, preparation and cocktail making but also with stocks and orders. Most of my working days were double shifts, covering the day to day operations of a busy restaurant especially on weekends. Has a duty supervisor my main responsibilities were:- Operations. Opening and closing of the restaurant. Stock count, financial forecasts according with sales and labour costs. - Training of new members of floor staff on customer service and customer experience.Having two jobs at the same time was without a doubt exhausting but also an amazing and enriched experience. I learn that hospitality industry is a permanent learning and working with people even under pressure can only be positive because its challenges me more and allows me to grown both as individual and professional. I become much more confident not only in who I am but in what I want.
