I have worked in the insurance industry since 1979 starting out as a file clerk for a small property-casualty insurer. By taking insurance courses from the Insurance Institute of America, I broadened my knowledge of property-casualty insurance and earned promotions to coding and rating positions in the industry. Eventually, I acquired insurance experience from a claims aspect by working in the claims department for The Hartford's Lancaster, PA office. I again took insurance related courses and acquired knowledge and expertise with handling payment of medical bills on Workers' Compensation claims, making sure the treatments were related to the injuries. The Hartford closed the Lancaster, PA office in 1996. Went on to graduate from Medical Assisting School, then obtained employment for a year and a half at The Travelers in Reading, PA in their WC Medical Bill department. Went on from there and obtained a position as a Reinsurance Underwriter at CoreSource, Inc. for a little over seven years. Left CoreSource to pursue another opportunity that did not come to fruition. Re-joined CoreSource a year later as a Proposal Analyst, answering broker questionnaires for prospective new clients. I have a good knowledge of the insurance industry, including property-casualty insurance, Workers' Compensation, Group Medical Benefit Plans, both self-funded and fully insured. I believe I can be a valuable resource for my co-workers and the company.Specialties: I have a good understanding of insurance industry terminology and structure and medical terminology, illness, and diseases. After nearly 30 years in the industry, I have learned and acquired information in many aspects of the industry. Currently, I am putting that knowledge to use, by answering prospective client questionnaires that cover a multitude of topics ranging from company structure to systems, claims payment and healthcare management.
