Sustainability is never just a job, it is a passion. A belief that the triple bottom line - people, planet and profit - is not just a good marketing tool, but a necessity for sustainable long term successful outcomes. And my passion is to help integrate this for clients of all sizes. I have not grown up in sustainability - I can't claim a degree in Earth Sciences or a strong track record of volunteering. My background is more traditional derivative trading, investment consulting and multi-asset management. I was previously guilty of demoting ESG to the last agenda item, in favour of things that seemed more pressing. But we all continue to grow, and learn. My background means I can understand the challenges of integrating sustainability as well as the benefits, and the importance of profit, or delivery of returns as well as the importance of social good and positive environmental impact.As an industry, we still have a lot of work to do - sustainability is now recognised as an important consideration almost unanimously but how far to go to integrate it, whilst also delivering returns is still an open question. I am excited to be part of that journey with all of our clients, and hope to be able to look back in years to come and feel we were able to deliver better outcomes all round.
