Taught students with varying exceptionalities. The class operated a 1-2x month cafe for school staff. The class partnered with one of the American Sign Language classes once a week where the ASL students were paired with the VE students and taught them sign language. In addition to the required academics, the class focused on vocational skills daily and participated in monthly trips to businesses and restaurants in the community.I founded and sponsored a school club, NUBICA Connections. NUBICA (Never Underestimate Because I Can Appreciate) was the name chosen, as the school mascot was a lion and Nubica is an East African lion. The club built friendships between students with and without special needs by holding events during lunches, after school and during school events. The first year with the district, I worked in the Hospital/Homebound program which offers a short-term instructional program for eligible students who have been diagnosed with a medical or psychiatric conditions that confines the students to the home, hospital, or other restrictive setting for at least 15 school days. Teachers provide instruction designed to help the students continue progressing academically in the core curriculum while away from their regular school program.While at Lake Nona High School, I continued to provide one-on-one instruction as needed in the Hospital/Homebound program after school hours.

Substituting for PreK-12 and charter schools in the district. Barb njoyed every day with the students, including those who were challenging. Teaching in numerous schools provided me with many new teaching strategies and ideas for decorating classrooms while keeping the learning objective in mind.

Instructed students with various disabilities in Special Education: Learning Disabilities, Autism, Intellectual Disabilities, Emotional Behavior Disabilities, Severe & Profound Disabilities

Instructed students with Emotional Behavior Disabilities in a self-contained classroom.

Employed with commuter airlines: Air Midwest, Precision Airlines, and Business Express. These commuters were in agreements with Eastern, Delta, American, TWA, and NW. Progressed from Customer Service Agent to Station Manager. Trained co-workers in all airline operations: Ticketing, Gate, Baggage, Ramp, Cargo, Baggage Services. Held positions of Ticket Agent, Gate Agent, Delayed & Lost Baggage Agent, Ramp Agent (including deicing), Customer Service Resolution Officer, Pass Bureau Assistant, Ground Security Coordinator, Revenue Control Analyst, Station Supervisor, and Station Manager.

Planned and instructed Travel and Tourism courses: Automated and Hand Ticketing, Reservations for Airlines, Cars, Hotels, Cruises, Rail, Package Tours, and Geography. Corporate and Vacation.
