As Senior Aviation Advisor, Barbara Michael provides technical guidance and project management leadership for airport development projects, with an emphasis on planning and environmental issues. She is extremely well connected in the aviation industry, and key to identifying and nurturing strategic teaming partnerships to develop the "correct fit" for each airport client.Barbara has nearly five decades of experience in aviation planning, including airport master planning for medium and large hub airports in the U.S. and globally. She also coordinates Mead & Hunt team efforts, knowledge sharing and quality control for the firms’ aviation practice. Barbara enjoys mentoring talented professionals and helping them to best solve client needs. Barbara Michael was a Vice President with Parsons Brinckerhoff, where she was responsible for leading the National Aviation Planning practice as well as managing and overseeing airport planning and environmental projects throughout the U.S. and globally. Barbara has managed the preparation of many airport planning studies and environmental studies, including assessments (EA) for many airport projects. She has prepared and reviewed numerous tall structures studies under FAR Part 77. She has also prepared position papers on a variety of issues, including ► Terminal planning apron requirements► Environmentally sensitive issues► Environmental process and land values around airport facilitiesOne of her specialties is preparation of federal land releases for airports. Barbara has also been involved in managing highway planning projects, particularly corridor planning where her extensive public involvement experience has been valuable. Barbara served as Parsons Brinckerhoff’s’s area manager with responsibility for managing the staff and resources in the Louisville office. She has strong marketing and presentation skills and has helped many planners and engineers of all levels, reach their potential in public presentations and problem solving.
