My experience at the California Rodeo Salinas taught me a great deal about customer service, media and event planning. While working at the rodeo, I helped our Marketing team organize campaigns and increase followers on social media. I was a customer service representative and sold merchandise. I created 1,200 committee badges the first year at the rodeo. I also was in charge of all committee shirt sales. I worked with a team of fellow rodeo employees to set up décor for numerous events. Our events ranged form simple executive meetings to extravagant sponsorship galas. Other projects I completed include managing social media platforms, brain storming for marketing campaigns, creating brochures, and updating website media. This position strongly developed my skills into active communication, organizational, problem solving and multitasking skills in an ever-changing environment. I learned that I thoroughly enjoy working in an environment that presents challenges to overcome each day.

As a tasting room manager, I had many responsibilities and duties including wine club, social media, creating marketing materials, and organizing events. While working at Puma Road, I tremendously increased wine club memberships by using sales techniques and my friendly personality. An amazing aspect of the job was creating many forms of media such as complimentary tasting cards, advertisements for social media platforms, advertising cards, tasting menus and wine club sign-up sheets. Social Media is an extremely useful tool in the wine industry as in many others. As the manager, I updated all online platforms like the Facebook page, Instagram, Pinterest, and website content. We host numerous parties for our wine club members. I was responsible for organizing events such as Wine Club Pick Up Parties, Polenta Feasts, and Holiday Sales by planning décor visions, organizing staff, preparing a menu, hiring music, and providing entertainment for up to 400 attendees. Another duty I held as manager was being solely in charge of consolidating inventory of over 4,500 cases of wine. Organization is key in this process!

My adventure to Rodeo Austin was one I will always remember. I have been born and raised in the Salinas area and loved experiencing something new. While at the rodeo, I worked for the CEO’s assistant. My main task was managed and organizing credentials, gala tickets, rodeo tickets and parking passes for 1,500 volunteers, 600 founders, and 250 VIP guests. Another major task I had was ensuring all the VIP guests were content and taken care of. This entailed preparing their private VIP tours and making their dinner at the Founders Club above the rodeo arena. During the actual rodeo show, I recorded, timed and noted all events in the rodeo, intermission, and concert as they occurred.
