Lead the design, implementation, and budget of the academic department to empower first-generation and low-income high school students in the predominantly Latinx community of Boyle Heights to be academically competitive and ready for four-year colleges and universities. I oversee a full-time Academic Affairs Manager and a team of part-time coaches who facilitate workshops and advise scholars individually. My team offers tiered support primarily for 9th - 11th grade: workshops on study habits and executive functioning skills for scholars trending below a 3.0 cumulative A-G GPA, in addition to services that elevate scholars to meet college competitiveness criteria for impacted UCs and private institutions.Highlights:o 98% of the class of 2021 matriculated to a four-year institutiono Scholars earning a 3.0+ cumulative A-G GPA rose from 67% to 88% in two years, now maintaining 85% with a 3.25 cumulative A-G GPA.o Juniors competitive for private colleges increased from 10% to 25%o Scholars accepted to competitive summer programs shifted from 85% to 95%

Hired, managed, and developed a team of up to 10 employees to consistently meet and exceed student academic eligibility benchmarks: 3.0+ A-G GPA, ACT math 22+, and ACT composite 21+Highlights:Spearheaded and developed a cumulative series of professional development workshops for direct-service staff ranging from checks for understanding, classroom management, and motivational interviewing techniques.During this period of time, without the guidance of a department director, I created a year-long math intervention program (Math Counts), which included an accelerated summer curriculum (Camp Cranium), to meet college math readiness benchmarks and foster Growth Mindset. To eliminate the stigma of being assigned weekly academic advising, I shifted our advising sessions into a single classroom to start sessions with group community builders. Maintaining shared space during check-ins empowered students to connect with peers experiencing similar challenges and to support one another. Over time, I embedded what were once one-off workshops into the weekly advising curriculum to provide consistent executive functioning and study skill development, with accountability.
