Hello, I’m Nick Barker, a Sophomore studying Accountancy and Computer Science at Miami University. I graduated from New Philadelphia High School where I was the treasurer of the National Honor Society and Student Body. I was a 4-year letterman and varsity captain in soccer, and I ran track. Academically at Miami University, I received the Fall 2023 President's List and the Spring 2024 Dean's List honors. I am the current vice president of Miami Management and Leadership (MML), assisting new members and engaging in their growth. I also participate in the Accounting Association. These organizations give me different insights on topics in business and help build connections with other students and faculty. Furthermore, I am a Bridges Scholar, enhancing my knowledge of cultural diversity and involving myself around campus. For Pleasure, I am a brother in the Alpha Sigma Phi Social Fraternity. Within the fraternity, I am the Co-Recruitment chair. Additionally, I am on the Social board as well as the New Member Education board. Otherwise, I participate in the Pickleball Club and Miami Mudders to keep me active and make new friends. More about myself, I’m a very self-efficacious student with great communication skills to collaborate well within groups. I’ve gained those skills from my past work experience. Currently, I work at Dick's Sporting Goods as a Footwear Associate and as a freelance Accountant for ClevelandKickz and EZ Clothing LLC. In the past, I worked general labor with BNH Properties, coached a team of youth students through NPYSA, and assisted as a receptionist at Cadiz Vision Center. I have learned a lot from these experiences and hope to gain more skills through different job opportunities in the future. Overall, I am very excited to continue my academic career at Miami University. I hope to keep learning differing topics on accounting and business as a whole at Farmer School of Business.
