I have over 35 years high-level communications and publishing experience, in both print and online, in both Melbourne and Perth, Australia. This includes: writing; editing; publishing; design; management of print, design, web and video teams; digital strategy development; information architecture; social media strategy development; marketing; and business analysis.I have written, edited or published 10,000 publications, ranging from short-run books of 50 copies, to newsletters of 250,000 copies. I have managed in-house print operations from small studio-style teams to a medium scale print operation with over 20 staff. From 2007 to 2014, I was Director of a team managing Curtin University's online presence centred around a website of over 500,000 pages.Highlights include:* From 1982-1985 I was Manager of the Australian Society Publishing Company, publisher of the monthly magazine Australian Society.* I was Managing Editor at the Anti-Cancer Council in Victoria, a leading non-profit health research and information organisation, for five years until my move to Perth in 1997.* I worked at Curtin University, Perth's largest and most dynamic university for 17 years, working as Publications Manager before taking over the university's printing operation in 2005, and creating the digital team in 2007.* With colleagues, created the Digital Media Unit in 2007 to coordinate and develop Curtin's website and online presence.Since leaving Curtin University in 2014, I have divided my time between planning the WWW2017 conference in Perth, assisting with the Edge of The Web Conference for 2015, and developing business plans for several digital startups.
