I serve as the Country Manager for South Africa at dLocal (Nasdaq: DLO). dLocal connects global merchants with billions of emerging market consumers and helps the world's biggest companies (including Google, Microsoft, Amazon, Spotify, Shopify, Nike, adidas, Netflix, Shein, Temu, Tencent and many more) to simplify payments and realise their expansion ambitions into the developing world.Prior to this I was the Managing Director of SuperSportBet at KingMakers South Africa. Headhunted to lead a team of 120, that was built from the ground up, I headed the brand conceptualisation, development, regulatory approval, marketing and successful launch of SuperSportBet.com - a world class sports betting and casino offering, in partnership with SuperSport.My career has been built on over two decades of marketing, media and general management experience on varied platforms in both South Africa and China. I have proven myself to be motivational to team members and fiercely driven by results - setting high standards for myself and others. In my career to date I have operated alone and also managed multinational teams ranging in size from 3 to over 120. My work also includes launching brands and internal divisions and conceptualizing, managing and executing numerous high-visibility projects and events with seven figure budgets. I have been instrumental in launching and nurturing new brands and magazine titles for Media24 in South Africa and built the international component of the media business for a Chinese joint venture partner of Naspers/Prosus into a substantial and recurring revenue source.I was headhunted by eBay to head up a range of verticals for Gumtree - South Africa's largest online classifieds platform and later served as Head of Operations. Essentially, I was tasked with building start-ups within a ~20 year old business. My impact was immediate, bringing hundreds of new clients on board and unlocking an ever-growing, seven-figure revenue stream from scratch. As part of the senior executive, I shaped strategies that enabled trade between millions of buyers and sellers. I have proven myself to be highly adaptable with a focus on getting things done, while maintaining an impeccable standard.
