Having served a 5 yr apprenticeship in Mechanical Engineering worked as a toolmaker in Satchwell Controls, then Training Officer for apprentices and graduate trainees for Crane Packing. Undertook IPD examinations for Personnel. and worked in HR at Crane Packing and Hoover. Studied psychology with the OU and graduated with a 1st class honours in Psychology ( BPS accredited) Joined Hammersmith and West London College as a lecturer in HR. Undertook an MSc in Occupational Psychology at Birkbeck. joined West Herts Management College as Lecturer in HR then Gloucestershire College of HE as Principal Lecturer in HR and HR manager for the Faculty. undertook teaching, ( IPD, post grad, PHd supervision and assessment) research, publishing, consultancy, HR management and development. Worked part time for IPD as examiner, competency development and assessment along with external verification, examiner. Worked part time for the Open university as a tutor. Worked in University of Gloucester until retirement in 2006. Other experience: justice of the Peace, consultancy with other organisations, trusteeship in education, Trade Union Officer/ representative.
