Associate at HFM where we specialise in mall refurbishment and redevelopment projects for Hammerson, Westfield, RDI REIT, Bride Hall and others.Significant recent projects have included installing additional retail at roof level for Sports Direct & TK Maxx in Chester, New management Suite over retail at the Oracle in Reading and gaining planning permission for a Hotel within the Grosvenor Centre in Chester.

I was responsible for design and implementation of new stores for TK Maxx’s roll out. Fast paced work for a notoriously difficult retailer where I maintained a good working relationship with the TKM team. This has continued to prove useful since as they are a key tenant in some of HFM's retail projects.During slack times in the TK Maxx work I also assisted with the tender stages of several workplace projects for UK and Middle Eastern clients.

Westridge is a medium sized general contractor with an approximate turnover of £25-30m serving Kent, Sussex, Surrey and Hampshire. They provide a full design and build service, from inception to handover. Working across all RIBA stages with clients such as Brighton & Hove City Council and Amicus Horizon I prepared feasibility studies and delivered projects on site in the residential and education sectors.

I joined an expanding satellite office, just as government funding to FE college projects which formed the backbone of the Sevenoaks office's workload collapsed. I was fortunate to be able to work on stage E of Hale Village (a large scale residential project) and some education projects while significant staffing cuts took place.

Due to my experience in both retail and residential I was recruited to be a key member of the delivery team for the BCSC Gold award winning Princesshay Exeter scheme. On which I had co-ordinating responsibility for the central zone and several packages including the glazed canopy, stone cladding, Zinc cladding and timber cladding. I then moved on to be Project Architect on the Leeds Shopping Plaza refurbishment and worked with Land Securities and their agents on integrating with the proposed Trinity redevelopment, before handing the project over to the Manchester office to develop the detailed design. Leeds was pilot project for CT's in-house EDMS, and I provided valuable feedback to the developers.I was also involved as part of a co-ordination team on a proposed €1bn development in Bucharest, working with colleagues in Paris and Milan, traveling regularly to site and to other offices internationally.Gained experience of large mixed use projectsGained experience of international projectsGained experience of intranets, EDMS and project extranets

Omega Partnership is a practice specialising in residential projects for major house builders. After my first year I became the de-facto lead architect within the practice for all technical and delivery packages including residential projects of up to 60 Units.

Lumsden is a specialist retail interiors practice. I primarily worked on the roll out for an Gap, delivering numerous stores around the UK for a demanding client and the compressed timescales typical in the retail environment. I also worked on projects for Lakeland and RAC. Additionally, I delivered an office fit out for the practice.

I joined PDP and while with the office worked on a number of workplace and car showroom projects. Usefully there was an in-house QS team to work with and I was also able to follow several of thes car showroom projects on site. Overall I gained useful technical knowledge and CAD skills in my spell with PDP.

BM were heavily engaged in housing and housing refurbishment. In addition to the normal office based process public consultations and design games played a major part in the design process. Consequently we had a great time making models, setting out display boards and going out and facing the public!
