A 10 week internship in the radiation laboratory run by Professor Prashant Kamat focusing on research into photochemistry and solar cell construction and optimisation. Analysis of solid and solution processed hybrid perovskite materials with potential use for light harvesting in cheap and efficient solar cells.Characterisation of thermal properties and crystallographic structure through the use of thermogravimetric analysis coupled with mass spectrometry (TGA-MS) and X-ray diffraction (XRD).

Laboratory intern in a chemistry laboratory of an environmental monitoring firm.The role involved utilising wet chemistry methods for analysing water and soil samples. Methods included BOD, COD, pH, conductivity, turbidity, total suspended solids, SPE and liquid liquid extractions. Some experience using GC-MS and GC-FID for analysis of organic pollutants in samples.Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) was utilised in the laboratory.The role required strong analytical skills, efficient and reliable laboratory technique and ability to complete analyses in a timely manner.

Awarded a summer undergraduate placement in environmental chemistry research laboratory as part of the Hamilton Undergraduate Scholarship from the National Centre for Sensor Research in June 2012. The aim of the research was to identify levels of petrochemical pollution in Dublin Bay and to determine correlation between pollution levels and marine microbiological communities present.The role required efficient laboratory skills and the ability to learn and adapt to new lab techniques and instrumentation within a short period of time.I was solely responsible for carrying out extractions of petrochemical waste on marine sediment samples.Methods utilised included liquid-liquid extraction, solid phase extraction, gas chromatography/mass spectrometry.Analysis was carried out using Chemstation software.

Solely responsible for processing of corporate actions on ILIM funds in a high pressure environment where ability to meet daily deadlines is crucial. Day to day aspects of the job required submitting corporate actions responses prior to market deadlines and being the main point of contact for ILIM fund managers, for external custodians and counterparties regarding corporate actions and trade settlement queries.Primarily recruited for the corporate actions role but diversified my role within the team to include administration of trade settlements in bonds and equities.Responsible for training of new staff and overseeing of implementation of new procedures and systems within the Settlements team.

The Fund Manager Relationship Administrator (FMRA) role involved being the main point of contact for client queries (both internally and externally) regarding assets being held under the custody of National Australian Bank – Custodian Services.The FMRA role required contact with a diverse array of areas such as cash and security trade settlements, foreign exchange, derivative settlement and reconciliation, corporate actions and account reconciliations.The role involved resolving time critical queries from clients which required efficient management of daily requirements and effective prioritisation of duties.

The role required contacting clients of BNP regarding decisions on optional dividends and meeting the market deadlines for client instructions.Effective teamwork, organisation and communication skills were required for the role

Corporate actions role involved administration of corporate actions events on securities held on GAM Funds.The role required collation of data from external sources and organisation of the data using Microsoft Excel and Word.
