Biomedical Commercialization LLC – Since 1977 I have been personally involved at different times in practically all aspects of biomedical commercialization ranging from major corporations to start-ups. But my value as a consultant starts with a blend of both successful and unsuccessful experience as well as learned skills. I have always been a new product person and often a start-up person so both entrepreneur and intrapreneur roles apply. My career includes learning, implementing and improving upon all the basics including selling, strategy, marketing, product development, problem solving, and leadership. My education: Brown University Engineering Science, Navy OCS and Supply School, Wharton MBA with an emphasis on Strategic Planning, and training at the Center for Creative Leadership. A large part of my experience since 1990 with been with organizations with just one or two major products. As we all know that means that the organizational chart is very flat and everyone has multiple responsibilities. Teamwork is critical. My ultimate value is in strategic and operational coaching and consulting for companies developing, launching, and profitably growing their business. The lingering effects of Covid 19 have turned everyone’s world around. This means that an initial strategy isn’t nearly as important as starting with strategic planning, which is the process that should be implemented prior to developing a initial solid strategy.Relevant biomedical metrics include 16 years in major corporations, 6 years in profitable $20M plus biomedical companies, 5 years with six startups, over $300M in selling or marketing biomedical products, 12 product launches from zero dollars, 2 patents and over 16 years consulting.An important aspect of up-to-date consulting includes identifying areas and topics that can sometimes be miss-understood or overlooked. With that in mind, for medical device strategic planning purposes the relationship between FDA regulatory procedures and reimbursement needs to be carefully understood and when required acted on.
