In June 2020, the Scottish Government announced a review of the Town Centre Action Plan. The review will be undertaken by an expert review group chaired by Professor Leigh Sparks Chair of Scotland’s Towns Partnership and Deputy Principal and Professor of Retail Studies at the University Stirling.Other members of the group include the Federation of Small Businesses, COSLA, the Royal Town Planning Institute, South of Scotland Enterprise, the Carnegie Trust, Public Health Scotland, Sustrans, Inclusion Scotland, the Development Trusts Association Scotland and the Scottish Government

Worked with Councils in Scotland to maximise their economic impact as part of the Economic Outcomes Programme (EOP), a joint project between the IS, Scottish Government and SLAED. The Programme was a two year project, which began in August 2012, to embed the key messages of the Local Authorities Economic Development Improvement Guide. The EOP was a small team that supported Councils and other partners to improve the design and delivery of local economic development. Support offered included:• Reviewing and strengthening partnerships (e.g. CPP Economy theme Groups)• Strengthening linkages between the Economic Strategy and the SOA – particularly in the context of new SOAs being developed• Reviewing Economic Profiles and Strategies as well as delivery action plans.
