Living the Devices & Services vision in the Applications and Services Division.Building cloud-scale streaming data processing systems, leading a team that builds the core foundation of a distributed data processing engine, its programmability and data model, and the programming language surface. My team also built the core engine of a compact edition of the same technology running on edge devices of the cloud, with low power and memory footprint requirements.The technology is based on the foundations and principles of Reactive Extensions (Rx) and LINQ, bringing these concepts to cloud-scale services and small devices.One of the customer-facing technologies powered by the technology is Microsoft's digital assistant "Cortana" for Windows Phone 8.1, both in our data centers and on the device.

Working on Reactive Extensions (Rx) v2 and various LINQ-related projects.My current responsibilities are the overall design and implementation of Rx v2.0, focusing on various improvements across the board. Rewrote significant portions of the query pipeline and scheduler infrastructure to greatly improve performance and robustness.Helped to ship Rx as part of various product offerings, including Windows Phone 7, SQL Server 2012 PowerView, System Center 2012, StreamInsight 2.1, and more yet undisclosed (future) products.Consulting with various teams across the company on using Rx for event stream problems, and using LINQ as a unified query experience for a wide variety of back-ends (in terms of execution models and query languages).

Working on the SQL Cloud Data Programmability team, where we "democratize the cloud", focusing on various technologies related to data access targeting data services in the cloud and reactive programming technologies in the Reactive Extensions for .NET (Rx).In this role, I helped design and implement core portions of the Rx technology, which shipped as a v1.0 product in June 2011. In parallel with this effort, I worked on various undisclosed projects related to our Big Data strategy and prototyped a series of advanced LINQ query providers.

Worked on the Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF) technology, part of .NET Framework 3.0 and higher, as a Software Development Engineer 2 (SDE 2).In this role, I contributed to the WPF features that shipped in .NET Framework 4.0 and Visual Studio 2010, more specifically focusing on WPF's Application Model feature area and related projects. One of the end-to-end features I owned was dynamic script interop for XBAPs, leveraging the newly introduced dynamic typing capabilities in C# 4.0 and the Dynamic Language Runtime (DLR) to allow managed code to interoperate with the HTML DOM.

Worked on the Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF) technology, part of .NET Framework 3.0 and higher, as a Software Development Engineer (SDE). In this role I mostly focused on AppModel features, which includes the Application and Window class APIs, as well as the XBAP browser hosting.During this time, I also worked on the .NET Framework 3.5 Client Profile setup and deployment story. As part of this project, I helped design and implement a new pipelined tiny setup bootstrapper to cut down installation times of the .NET Framework for client deployment scenarios. After releasing this as part of the .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 release wave, I developed and shipped a setup authoring tool as an out-of-band project.
