I am a UK Consultant Paediatric Surgeon that has held several senior clinical and leadership positions in the UK and the Gulf. I have a wide range of experience in Paediatric Surgery with subspecialty interests in complex colorectal surgery, oesophageal replacement surgery and neonatal surgery. In neonatal surgery, I have a specialist interest in the operative and peri-operative management of sick surgical pre-term babies. I have directed and led neonatal surgical services including their set up at a high level. I am internationally renowned in the field of bowel reconstructive surgery for paediatric short gut syndrome and I receive referrals and provide advice to colleagues from around the world. I have a strong relationship with the International Paediatric Autologous Bowel Reconstruction and Rehabilitation Unit (PABRRU) at Meyer’s Children’s Hospital in Florence, Italy which is one of the largest and most experienced in the world in the management of paediatric short gut syndrome and I hold an Honorary Professorship of Paediatric Surgery with the University of Florence.In addition to Paediatric Surgery, I am a Health Systems expert specializing in the Management of National Health Systems. Furthermore I have expertise in Finance and Economic Policy and is able to integrate financial factors and indicators into Health Systems Management and policy formulations. I am capable of running institutional “management/leadership diagnostics” in the health care sector and providing solutions for immediate critical problems and creating the infrastructure for long term sustainable growth. I have provided advice and guidance to colleagues in senior leadership positions in health care institutions in the Gulf and the West. I enjoy teaching and I have taught several leadership and management modules to postgraduates in Universities. I have also created my own leadership and management courses for the health care sector with a focus on change management.
