Field Services• Assisted with the commissioning and maintenance of Low Voltage, Medium Voltage and High Voltage field assets.• Assisted with fault outages, prepaid meter installations as well as interpretations of network diagrams. • Assisted with the maintenance of transformer bushings and oil testing for moisture detection.• Worked in close conjunction with the field staff in identifying the root causes for HV breaker leaks and assisted with the installation of new parts to resolve the identified problems.• Successfully developed an “Automated Coil Winder” for the MV Switchgear department to create and build their own Induction Coils for the MV breakers.• Further projects undertaken: Design of transformer sampling valves, evaluating ways of preventing cable theft by the use of an Industrial Scale, designing of easy to read floor maps in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety act. Asset Creation• Gained experience and knowledge in Network Analysis and Load Forecasting.• Compiled the MV portion of the Network Development Plan for the Ashton area which included the analysis of constrained feeders and providing solutions for network strengthening and reliability compliance.• Urbanisation project for an Industrial Park.Key Achievements• Nominated for an Innovation Award for creating and building an Automated Coil Winder. This helped save the department over R200 000 a year in terms of maintenance costs. • Project approval by senior management for the network strengthening in the Ashton area. Project solutions will reduce the network losses by R 1.2 Million.
