I manage PRL's Foundry Operations and the 8-operator team that directly works with every casting we produce in-house. I manage material procurement, heat scheduling, and engineering problem solving for the carbon and stainless steel castings (and occasional C96400 copper nickel and CW6MC Gr. B Inconel 625 non-ferrous alloys) that we produce. Other focuses include fostering a safe manufacturing environment, scrap reduction, directly overseeing coreless induction furnace melting and AOD refining, and maintaining quality to reduce rework costs during the casting upgrade process. I report weekly in Sales and Operations Planning to assist the outlook for casting production in the upcoming weeks and months.

Operating concurrently with my foundry engineering and foundry manager roles, I also managed the value stream that repairs and overhauls components of pumps from Navy submarines undergoing scheduled maintenance. I oversaw the part evaluations and subsequent repair plans and built their processing routes, reporting to our customer weekly on the progress of the different parts from prioritized pump sets. During those meetings, I also provided updated delivery dates caused by the ebbs and flows of production with the intent of delivering parts in a timely manner to avoid holding up our customers from returning the fully-assembled pumps to the Navy on-time.During June and July of 2023, I was heavily involved with arranging a production cell in the casting upgrade shop dedicated to the work on these components, including dimensional inspection, NDE inspection, grinding, and welding stations.I worked to continually develop and improve each part's repair process, including proposing better repair methods, better documenting processing steps, developing more internal machining opportunities where available, and exploring more machining subcontractors for machining operations outside of our capabilities. I grew the value stream as we explored similar work with customers supplying these pumps new on current submarine construction as well.

In this role, I was responsible for providing support for the production floor at PRL's foundry. One main responsibility I had is engineering castings, which included simulating parts and designing the rigging for the patterns. These castings can be new jobs with new rigging designs, patterns new to the company with existing rigging designs, and existing company patterns that need rigging improvement. This whole process often begins in the quoting stage, where I was involved in providing casting and pattern quoting information to the estimating team.Another main aspect of this position was building routing for castings, forgings, and fabrications that come through PRL. Although my knowledge lied mostly in the foundry and with the castings we make, our customers order parts from rough castings to finish-machined castings all the way through complex assemblies with numerous fabrications. My role was to develop these routings from scratch or transpose an already-existing route from our old ERP to one we went live on in November 2022. I also worked to interpret, improve, and streamline these processes that already had existing routes to improve shipments and on-time delivery.I became familiar with the processes throughout PRL's process beyond the foundry, which includes performing non-destructive testing on the casting, upgrading it, and machining the final product.

I officiate competitive youth and college club soccer games alongside other referees. We emphasize player development through learning and understanding the Laws of the Game set forth by FIFA and adopted by U.S. Soccer. Before, during, and after games, I manage conflicts between other game officials and players and coaches and have learned to build communication skills across different experience levels.

In this role, I was a learning assistant for ME 297: Writing for Engineering. Along with other mentors, I helped to evaluate writing assignments for the junior mechanical engineering students in the course, including an initial research report and a design proposal, based on content, style, and form. Included in this evaluation were critique workshops, where I was able to work with the groups one-on-one and help improve their technical writing documents. Through this role, I was also able to improve my own technical writing, editing, and critiquing skills that I gained when I took this course. Doing so helped me when writing the different documents for my senior capstone project.

I officiated six IM sports during my time as an official: flag football, floor hockey, soccer, arena flag football, and human foosball. This position allowed me to manage conflicts between players and create a positive customer service atmosphere by effectively communicating between myself, other officials, and participants.During my four years with Competitive Sports, I worked with numerous officials and was able to help them improve themselves on the field. As the most experienced official during my last year of officiating, I had the honor of working with all new officials, and I was able to help develop many of them through two sports seasons. On the final championship night, I worked with many of them, demonstrating how much they developed over a short three months.

As the women's soccer office assistant, I managed the recruiting database and input emails for recruits who were not located in the database. During tournament season, I also input tournament notes for the coaches, who evaluated potential recruits.

I spent my internship experiencing day-to-day engineering operations of a sand casting foundry. I learned about the company’s production processes in order to assist on any process, including mold making, core making, and mold closing. I also shadowed the melting and pouring operations. Some of my summer projects included designing and modeling a two-material hopper for the molding area and a grind gauge for our upgrade shop. Once I had a good understanding of some of the processes, I organized and wrote procedures for molding and preparing ladles for pouring operations.

I spent my internship experiencing day-to-day engineering operations of an investment casting foundry. I learned about the company’s production processes in order to assist on any process, including wax injection, mold building, finishing, dimensional inspection, and prototype preparation. My summer project involved problem solving parts that a customer rejected and resolving the issue so that production could resume.
