My investigations cover billing, provider care, and conflicts of interest issues among others.I train new investigators on company practices and investigative techniques to further develop our compliance program.

I manage a team of 4 investigators focused on eliminating fraud, waste and abuse by City of Austin employees and contractors. My management of the investigative unit is directed at helping my team members conduct their investigations in a complete and efficient manner while producing comprehensive reports that help City management make responsible governance decisions.My team evaluates and investigates an average of over 20 allegations per month along with multiple complex investigations. I manage the distribution of the investigations and provide insight and advice on investigative steps, information analysis, and resource allocation. I also assist in preparation for and the conducting of witness and subject interviews.As the team supervisor, I also handle my own caseload focused on more complex investigations. My investigations have included a range of topics including conflict of interest, tax fraud, misuse of City resources, and abuse of official position. My caseload has allowed my to lead dozens of witness and subject interviews where I utilize my enhanced deception detection and interrogation training. The researched and supported findings in my reports have been reviewed by City management and elected officials to assist in policy and management decisions.

The overarching goal of my investigations is to enhance the transparency and accountability of the City of Austin government. As a Senior Investigator, I plan and conduct investigations using both convert and overt methods. I direct other investigators and City staff in best practices for collecting and analyzing facts that will lead to timely investigative conclusions and reports.In my tenure with the City of Austin, I have managed investigations that focused on conflicts of interest, misuse of City resources, and abuses of supervisory discretion that led to inefficient or ineffective City management. My investigative reports have been issued to the Mayor, City Council, and the management of various departments to help assist with appropriate post-investigation actions.In addition to my investigative work, I have help lead my department's efforts to comprehensively respond to public information act requests and discovery requests related to pending litigation.

I guide restaurants, hotels, nightclubs, taverns, distillers, brewers, and grocery stores through the regulatory structure and mandates of the District of Columbia. I advise clients on how to efficiently acquire necessary business and alcoholic beverage licenses so that their business can meet operational deadlines and patron needs. I defend clients before regulatory boards when their business operations have been accused of violations of governing law. Additionally, I represent clients in negotiations with governmental bodies, neighborhood associations, and fellow business owners.

I ensured compliance among the license holders with the governing laws and regulations. I investigated crimes and violations of law in connection with license holders. Through my investigations, I collected evidence, wrote investigative reports, and testified about my findings in ABC Board hearings. I also assisted license holders on interacting with the Alcoholic Beverage Regulation Administration and gave guidance on best practices for legal compliance.
