We believe food production can increase biodiversity. We believe locally produced food contributes to a healthier and more inclusive society. And we believe waste can be reused and add value to produce. That is why we stand for durable and circular food production. Local Circles designs and realizes projects within a circular economy. We are a start-up that focusses on urban farming, circularity and restorative agriculture. We use our creativity and analytical skills to design pioneering projects and we help initiators to research their possibilities.

The Brilliant Club seeks to mobilize the PhD community to engage with state schools and support talented pupils from under-represented backgrounds to progress to highly-selective universities. In the role of PhD tutor, I designed and delivered a Key Stage 4 Program consisting of 7 tutorials. These tutorials provided the pupils with insight in my research and a first experience with academia. Engaging with pupils to think critically and create their own body of work, was very inspiring and rewarding. I gained a lot of teaching skills through the opportunity to design my own module. The placement within the school was an invaluable experience with a school system and a pupils from a background that was unfamiliar to me before engaging with the Brilliant Club.

Research internship to the Medical Device Research Institute (MDRI) at Flinders University, Adelaide, Australia, as part of my PhD project.

SKITS is the student association for cycling and speed-skating from Amsterdam. During my year in the board, I focussed on creating opportunities and framework for students on an athletic and academic level.
