About Benjamin Jackson

I am a genetics PhD student, and a Biology Education Researcher. My current line of research focuses on instructor behaviors which improve student outcomes in the classroom. I have 3 semesters of teaching experience, having served as a teaching assistant in Evolution and Genetics courses, and as a laboratory assistant in general Biology courses. Much of my work in the Evolution and Biology courses was focused on improving student writing, and I have 2 semesters of experience working as a writing consultant at UGA's writing center.I also have done extensive work studying Nuclear Hormone Receptors and the regulatory effects they have on the development of mammals. Specifically, I have worked with NR2F2 and its role in vasculogenesis/angiogenesis. I worked largely in rodent and Human Embryonic Stem Cell models, utilizing CRISPR-KO screens, protein crystallization, luciferase reporter assays, and more.I am a diverse researcher with a broad suite of knowledge, research skills, and communication skills. I anticipate defending my thesis towards the end of 2025, and am eager to move into a position where I can combine my love of science and my love of people.
