I face obstacles nearly every day and in every facet of the industry. The key is to find the answer by using all the resources that a company provides for its employees. Big ideas make business. Execution makes the business successful. To run a prosperous business is fundamentally easy. 1) Listen to the customer, but do not beg for the customer. 2) Missteps happen. Learn from them. 3) Be the perfect mix of a customer’s best friend and teacher. 4) Be calm. Don’t rush to complete the sale. 5) Honesty truly is the best policy.I started out as a junior graphic designer. I learned the programs and honed my skills. Moving up was entirely the reward of good ideas and never getting stuck in a design style. Those that don’t change are bound to fade away.As a senior designer and production manager for a printing corporation, presswork became my forte. I learned the in’s and out’s of printing design. In all honesty, I had no idea how many designers cannot design for print. It was confusing knowing that these professionals had achieved degrees, yet couldn’t send something as simple as a business card to a professional press.Later in my career, as a design manager, I began to delve into marketing research for the real estate and home building market. I learned so many new techniques in grabbing the customer’s attention. I moved on to footwear design and marketing. However, here is where I learned to hone my skills as a salesperson. One of the most amazing things in life is the adrenaline that surges though one’s body as they know they have closed the deal.
