About Beatrice Dain
A recent Migration Policy Institute International Program consultant, my research focuses on mobility, borders, and refugee labor pathways. Previously a 2021 UK Fulbright Scholar at Queen's University Belfast, I received my Master’s in Global Security and Borders. An experienced researcher, my award-winning dissertation focused on migration, power, and mobility through two forested border regions — the Darién Gap and the Bialowieza Forest.Passionate about immigration and border policy, I have worked for the Colibrí Center for Human Rights, conducting missing person interviews for migrants missing along the U.S.-Mexico Border. Most recently, I completed a policy brief for the UK Home Office focusing on global visa policy and the pandemic's impact on UK Visas and Immigration policies in Latin America and the Asia Pacific. My lived experiences in Latin America (Guatemala, Mexico, and Brazil) and Europe (UK and Germany) inform my interdisciplinary work on migration and border practices globally.
