A 20+ year communicator and connecter who’s known for being calm in a crisis. I work with people and brands who make the world a better place.I’m the Founder and Managing Director of The Comms Department - a public relations and management agency where we specialise in entertainment, media and health brands. We're located in Australia but work globally. While I launched the company over twelve years ago in 2012, between our team of experienced professionals, we have over 100 years’ combined experience in PR, media and management. Our clients come to us when they need to manage their reputations or grow their revenue (or both). Often they're companies who are going through a fundamental business transformation. Our clients stay with us because we evolve and maintain that successful transformation, keeping their business current, vibrant, protected, and profitable. The majority of our clients are long-term or repeat projects and include ARN Media (KIIS FM, Pure Gold and The Edge networks, ARN Regional, iHeartRadio and the iHeartPodcast Network), AIDR’s Resilient Australia Awards, Amazon Prime Video, Cover-More Travel Insurance, Hanes, KK Press (Cosmopolitan Australia and T Australia - The New York Times Style magazine), Live Nation, Media Arts Lawyers, NBCUniversal, Sony Music, The Wiggles, The Royal Flying Doctor Service, Universal Music, WeAre8, World Travel Protection and many more. Before starting The Comms Department I spent half a decade as Senior Publicity & Promotions Manager for the world’s largest record company, Universal Music. This was preceded by an Account Executive role at a boutique Sydney PR agency, working with clients across finance, medical and lifestyle industries. And for six years before this, working as a recording and stage vocalist in Australia, Asia and Europe gave me insight and understanding of the entertainment industry and the life of creatives that’s rare to find.I am also the author of 'You've Got This' - a career guide for creatives, published by Penguin Random House in 2020 and currently working on my second book.My professional experience is backed by studies - a Bachelor of Music, Certificates in Social Psychology and the Psychology of Addiction & Recovery, a partial Graduate Diploma in Media and Communications (majoring in Public Relations) and currently studying a Graduate Diploma Mental Health & Neuroscience.

Senior National Publicity And Promotions ManagerUniversal Music Group Jan 2007 - Mar 2012While at Universal Music Australia, I was responsible for managing the PR strategy, publicity schedules and artist relations for a roster of diverse artists, with the ultimate goal of driving album sales, artist endorsement deals, and increasing the fan-base for our artists. This role also incorporated directing the Australian national PR team, with PR Managers in each state.Knowing how to work with talent, and to get the best from them so that all parties - including the artist, the manager, the label, the brand, and the media - are happy, is an acquired skill. It takes experience, strategy, and the genuine ability to build empathetic relationships. This is something that this role taught me, and I now excel in.I had the pleasure of working directly with international artists like Paul McCartney, Dolly Parton, Chris Isaak, Sting, Annie Lennox and Macy Gray, classical stars like Andre Rieu, Cecilia Bartoli, Hayley Westenra, Katherine Jenkins, Andrea Bocelli and Placido Domingo, and jazz artists Rufus Wainwright, Diana Krall, Jamie Cullum, Chris Botti, Melody Gardot and Madeleine Peyroux. I worked with incredible Australian artists, including The Wiggles, James Morrison, The Idea of North, Katie Noonan, Marcia Hines, Melinda Schneider, Teddy Tahu Rhodes and David Hobson and also managed the publicity for the back catalogue albums for stars like The Rolling Stones, U2, INXS, Queen, The Who, Ella Fitzgerald, Louis Armstrong, Billie Holiday, Frank Sinatra and more. After leaving Universal Music in 2012 to set up my own PR company The Comms Department, Universal Music became my first client and they're still a client to this day. -

Vocalist And Vocal CoachSelf-Employed Jan 1999 - Dec 2006Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, England, Sweden, FranceWhile studying a Bachelor of Music majoring in classical voice at the Conservatorium, I began my professional music career, both as a performer and a teacher. Releasing two albums and a DVD, roles on stage in musical theatre and opera and with bands in jazz clubs also took me around the globe, as I had the pleasure of performing alongside some of the world’s best singers and musicians. For three years I also worked as a vocal coach teaching singing to children, with weekly lessons in both primary and secondary schools. While I enjoyed working as a performer, after several years I felt a calling towards Public Relations and Communications, so in 2004 I settled in Sydney, Australia and began this re-training transition.
