My Primary duty for this position was to teach a defensive driving and decision making class to a large class of students ages 15 to 24 for a non-profit organization. The students were mostly at risk persons who had previously been involved in driving and or drug and drinking violations. This position was offered as opportunity to select individuals within law enforcement, and required rigorous training on adult and child education. Other responsibilities included recruiting and setting up classes in areas of Colorado where the program has not yet been established. I was honored to complete the task of setting up classes through the Build a Generation grant in Meeker, Colorado; providing this beneficial program to high school teenagers who otherwise would not have had the opportunity. This position ran concurrently with my position as Communications Supervisor for Colorado State Patrol.
Communications Supervisor
As a first line supervisor, I was responsible for planning, organizing, directing, and supervising the work of approximately fifteen multi-service dispatchers in the operation of a 24-hour 9-1-1 dispatch communication center. The main responsibilities for this position included enforcing strict policies, procedures and ethics; documenting and providing performance evaluations of employees; seeking and providing training for both myself and employees; providing technical supervision on handling of calls as well as complex computer aided dispatch software. I also was responsible for customer relations with local law enforcement agencies, including relations with local drug task force. I formed and maintained a group with representatives from multiple agencies represented by the dispatch center in an effort to maintain understanding of multiple agencies needs. I was Responsible responding to and the investigation of complaints and inquiries from customers, both internal and external. I was often called upon to apply effective conflict resolution techniques and strategies by exercising good judgment and making sound decisions under routine and stressful conditions.

Mastering complex and multiple computer systems including the use of Computer Aided Dispatching. Prioritizing multiple phone lines dealing in diversified calls from the public and internal customers.
